The city of Split is located in Split-Dalmatia County, which is located in the central part of the region of Dalmatia, the warmest region of the northern Mediterranean coast, in the very center of the Adriatic coast.
Split celebrated it`s 1700th year of existence, however, archaeological finds confirm that the site of today’s city existed earlier Illyrian and Greek settlement. The Roman emperor Diocletian ordered the construction of the monumental palace to it spent his retirement days. Diocletian Palace is next to the historic center of the city under the protection of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Cathedral of St. Duje, the patron of Split, is in the Diocletian`s mausoleum, and its sumptuous interior is a meetingpoint for many tourists. Much valuable cultural monuments are located and outside the walls of Diocletian Palace (renaissance square Prokurative, palaces, churches, museums …).
Split is an important traffic intersection, and also the largest ferry port on the Adriatic coast of Croatia. Split tend its “green soul” on the hill Marjan, where a forest park near the city offers comfort and peace from the noise.

Split Airport (IATA: SPU) (ICAO: LDSP), after Zagreb Airport, the most important in Croatia. Scheduled services fly to major European cities, with summer charter flights from more. The airport is about 25 km west from Split, near the city of Kaštela.

The main bus station in Split is located in the heart of the town, next to the harbor and the main railway station, which makes it easy for travelers to transfer between different means of Transport.

Split train station is right in the city center, it is a few minutes’ walk from the port and from the old town.

The Port of Split is the main hub for local boats and hydrofoils in Central Dalmatia. Several a day run to and from Brac, Hvar, Solta, Vis, Korčula and Lastovo.
